At the age of 4, when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, Robin said “I want to be a wanderer.” And indeed, he has wandered. Born and raised in Munich, Germany, Robin Kaip has lived in a multitude of places across the US, Canada, and Europe. Now based in Charleston, SC, Robin is an author and illustrator with an expansive imagination. He writes stories and plays that examine life’s questions from unique perspectives. What advice would your oldest self, about to cross the threshold, give to a new life about to be born? What kind of conversation would unfold between a group of people who have died? And how different would our relationships be if our thoughts manifested as independent, visible beings that could communicate with each other? Robin’s stories come to life with intricate, colorful drawings.
